Spyware Brigade

Assume your name is Larry Smith. You could become rich by assuming another persons name. All you have to do is go and get their total identity. Not just banking information, but there SSN or S.I.N. if you live in Canada. From that information you can find out their address, birthdates, work history, credit history…

Now I have never done that. But you can discover much more than that information. That is what society is calling Identity Theft. Really I thought society is suggesting Identity Theft as someone robbing your money; a phishing scheme; a false report from a bank on innocent looking emails.

No it is far more than that. For Larry Smith is was a convulted mess. It robbed him of his person. Someone actually took his name and ran up expenses and a new reputation for him.

How did we as western, progressive, societies fall into this crime. As a society, who prides itself on being the best in the world; how did we ever fall prey to our devices.

We are not at war with some nation whose number one machine gun is an internet toting phishing scheme.

No.

We are war with ourselves. More and more we are a money-driven society that looks out for number one. Criminals are at home, enjoying a latte sitting in front of their little white boxes, with wires, and telephone plugs, and memory banks, and a keyboard. The imagination is satisfied by replacing-cloning-if you will another person to occupy your expense account.
